How Did You Get Started in PDR?
How did you all get your start in PDR? Who trained you? Was it harder than you thought or did you pick it right up?
I started out in the auto body side. I was young, 16 years old when I started. I learned quicky that it was not what I wanted to do but at the time I had no other options. Then I learned about PDR, I think it was in 1995. I saw PDR techs come in and leave 5 min later making in that time what I'd make in a day. Training was expensive and limited or there was dent wizard, but you had to work there for 5 years and sign a non compete.
I kept on working in shops until the internet got really popular. Then around 2005 or so, through a google search, I learned about Tim Olsen's training videos. I immediately purchased them. I'd say it was way ahead of its time and a great learning tool. I'd love to see him update that whole program with today's newer tools and techniques. He was a great teacher. I have never personally met him but feel like I've known him forever. Anyway, I haven't looked back and I am so glad I found PDR.
Let's hear your experiences.
